Our Story

In August of 2020 after losing his job due to Covid-19 and unsure about his future, Dan Posch started a small Midcentury Modern furniture business.

Meanwhile, with his free time during lockdown, Paul Suquet was retrofitting stereo consoles first for friends, then as a small business in Mexico City, Mexico.

Dan opened his first retail location for his furniture business November 2021 in the Westside of Kansas City in a former mechanics garage, refinishing and selling Midcentury Modern furniture all over Kansas City.

By December 2021, Paul was spending more time in Kansas City and reached out to Dan as his name kept coming up every time Paul searched for vintage consoles to restore in Kansas City. Paul offered to modify the internals of the stereo consoles if Dan Posch would ensure a beautiful exterior cabinet.  It was a perfect match.  And during 2022, Dan and Paul retrofit about 20 consoles.

In mid-2023, the lease on Dan’s space was expiring. That’s when Dan met Brad Graff of Sioux City, Iowa. Brad was running his own Midcentury modern furniture store but wanted to open a store in a larger market. Brad had retail operations and small business experience and had scaled businesses in years before. This paired well with Dan’s sales, marketing, and social media experience. Brad and Dan decided to partner and open a larger furniture store, with Paul continuing to partner on retrofit consoles.

After initial discussions between the three would-be partners, it was decided that they would launch a new build furniture company focused on quality and design. Paul would handle engineering, Brad would handle operations, and Dan would handle sales.

The first product they would create would be a stereo console designed and built from the ground-up. As the team of three enlisted Matt Strobel for their initial console design, they decided on the name Relikcs Furniture, as a nod to those historical pieces that have stood the test of time. After countless hours of interface and internal design, a prototype of the Relikcs Timbre was revealed in March of 2024, with first units delivered in May.

Paul Suquet

President of Technology

Born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, Paul discovered a love for music at an early age, and developed a passion for recording. Aided by his audiophile father, an appreciation for high end audio grew. Always interested in finding out how things work, Paul showed an interest for electronics and computers throughout his life, and ended up at Computer Science and Electronics Engineering school before dropping out and focusing on audio recording and production instead. Always being the go-to guy for advice in audio and electronics, he eventually came up with the idea of restoring an old audio console from the 1950’s for his cousin. One project led to another and Paul started Acvstica Audio in 2020. Paul married his long-time girlfriend Heather in 2019 and shortly thereafter, the couple made a conscious effort to spend more time in Heather’s hometown of Kansas City. After a few consoles were made and sold in Mexico City, and after much insistence from Heather’s father, Paul built a retrofitted console in Kansas City before reaching out to Dan seeking the perfect collaboration they have today.
